Art classes can help students excel in their studies and Cerro Coso Community College is offering an Art History class this spring in Tehachapi.

Every picture tells a story and every artist operates under a unique set of circumstances that affect his or her work. Art History seeks to understand different cultures and epochs through the study and analysis of art and architecture as a means of communication. We exist in an environment that is filled with the artifacts of human history, architecture, painting, and sculpture. Art History offers the tools to recognize and understand these forms, and is a vital part of any serious liberal arts education. Art History provides knowledge and understanding of the past, and through it, of the present.

Thomas Betthauser will instruct Art C106 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:55 p.m. in at Tehachapi High School.

This class covers the historical development of painting, sculpture, and architecture from Giotto (1300) to the present. It focuses on the important contributions of Western Art.

The Spring 2015 term at Cerro Coso Community College begins January 17. Complete registration and course information is available on the web at www.cerrocoso.edu or contact the East Kern campus today at (661) 258-8644.

Studies have shown that students who take art classes do better in school overall. Don't delay; register today!
