Ridgecrest, California – Local musicians are being given an opportunity to make music together at Cerro Coso Community College this fall. Community Band is an excellent opportunity to partner with musicians in the area. Not only does it provide continuing education but it also provides occasion to build bonds with other artists and learn from their expertise and experiences.

Cerro Coso Community College is now accepting registrations for a Community Band class offered through the College’s Office of Community Education. The class is open to the public.

Community Band will meet on Thursdays from 6 to 9:10 p.m., August 28 – December 11, 2014 in Lecture Center of the Main Building, Room 146.

Under the direction of Debra Veit, the course will assist participants to improve musical skills, appreciate music and the different styles, and play musical instruments as part of a group. A Community Education fee of $46 will be charged.

The sense of community, aesthetics, and perseverance instilled in band members remains throughout life. The band will perform one or two times for the Ridgecrest community.

Complete registration and course information is available on the web at http://www.cerrocoso.edu/communityed or contact Kara Tolbert, Community Education Manager at (760) 384-6208 or at kara.tolbert@cerrocoso.edu.
