Ridgecrest, California—Local musicians ages 12 and up are being given an opportunity to make music together at Cerro Coso Community College this Fall. Community Band is an excellent opportunity to partner with musicians in the area. Not only does it provide continuing education but it also provides an opportunity to build bonds with other artists and learn from their expertise and experiences.

Cerro Coso Community College is now accepting registrations for a Community Band class offered this fall for credit or non-credit. The CCCC band includes college students playing alongside experienced amateur and professional musicians. The class is open to the public.

Community Band (MUSC 151) will meet on Thursdays from 6 to 9:10 p.m., August 23 through December 13, 2014.

Debra Veit will instruct the course and assist participants to improve musical skills, appreciate music and the different styles, and play musical instruments as part of a group. A Community Education fee will be charged to those registering for non-credit and regular enrollment fees apply for those registering for credit. Class size is limited.

The sense of community, aesthetics, and perseverance instilled in band members remains throughout life. The band will perform one or two times for the Ridgecrest Community.

Complete registration and course information is available on the web at http://www.cerrocoso.edu or contact Kara Tolbert, Community Education Manager at (760) 384-6208 or at kara.tolbert@cerrocoso.edu.
