COYOTES LOOK FOR 1st WIN IN LA: Starting out 0-6 doesn't sound like a learning experience that most teams would want to go through, but the Coyotes are taking their bumps in stride. After a near win on Saturday night, Cerro Coso will travel to the San Fernando Valley to take on LA Valley College (1-2) for a three game series starting Friday afternoon.

ABOUT THE COYOTES:

The Coyotes have had their fair share of ups and downs in the young season, making tremendous late game rallies, only to see those leads dwindle due to errors and inconsistent pitching. In 6 games this season, the Coyotes are averaging just over 3 errors per game, coming at the most inopportune times. Errors have led to more than half of the opponents' scored runs, making it difficult for the Coyotes to stay in games.

With the Bat: starting Right Fielder Kevin Maxey (SO/Long Beach Poly HS) is off to a brilliant start for the Coyotes. In 6 games, Maxey is batting .357 with a .643 Slugging percentage, 1 HR and 5 RBI's.

On the Bump: Kain White (FR/Legacy HS) has seen action in 2 games, coming in relief for starting pitching. In 5 innings pitched, White has an ERA of 1.80, with 5 strikeouts and an opponent's batting average of .067. The lefty has found a rhythm late in ball games to keep games close.

In the Dugout: Coach Jon Holmes has found his way out to the mound more often than he would like this early in the season. Pitching has become the focus for the coaches this season. A strong showing from the pitchers in the fall left high hopes. That confidence has all but left as pitching has started out rocky early in the spring. "We have seven arms that I feel comfortable with right now," Holmes said. He continued, "They need to settle down, trust their pitches, and we will be just fine."
