Cerro Coso Community College relies on the expertise and skills of our grounds workers in keeping our surroundings one of the most beautiful and scenic spots in Ridgecrest. Their dedication and hard work provide students, staff, and the community with beautiful, outdoor spaces for study, interaction, and reflection.

For new Grounds Worker Carlos Bombela working outside in the wide open spaces is a dream comes true. Carlos spent many years as a cook in a restaurant working in confined spaces. Working outside for the past 13 years is a passion and a pleasure for Carlos, who takes a lot of pride in the work he does.

Originally from Mexico, Carlos and his family have been in Ridgecrest since 1992. His wife, Maria, and three children: Mireya (21), Karla (15), and son Jody (10) love spending time with their family. Carlos still enjoys cooking, but prefers his own kitchen over that of a restaurant. In his new role at Cerro Coso, he will assist with the care of all grounds, landscape, athletic fields, and event set-up and clean-up at the Ridgecrest campus.

Welcome Carlos and thank you for helping keep our grounds clean and green!
