The Cerro Coso Community College Foundation has received a $6,000 grant from Engility to support an ongoing scholarship at the college.

The Engility STEM Scholarship is awarded to encourage and support motivated CCCC students from the Ridgecrest and Online campuses majoring in any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Business Administration, and Computer Science) disciplines. Each year in May, a $1,000 scholarship—among the largest scholarships available at CCCC—will be awarded.

"The impact of scholarships goes well beyond just dollars and cents," said Cerro Coso President Jill Board. "A scholarship is something that students will always remember as the catalyst that put them on the path to a bright future. We are proud to join forces with Engility to make the dreams of a college education a reality for many worthy students."

"Engility is pleased to support the Cerro Coso Community College Foundation and the students who will focus their studies in the CCCC's STEM program," said Engility President and CEO Tony Smeraglinolo. "America is the world leader in innovation and ingenuity and the STEM program is helping us maintain this advantage, which is important to our commercial enterprises and military superiority."

Headquartered in Chantilly, Engility is a $1.66 billion company with 7,000 employees worldwide, employing highly skilled individuals throughout the U.S. and in more than 50 countries around the world. Engility, provides engineering and program management, training and international development services to an array of customers, and currently supports an array of programs in the Ridgecrest area, including the Advanced Weapons Laboratory at China Lake with F-18 software development, systems integration, and CM and DM and IPT support.

All CCCC students majoring in the above mentioned disciplines are encouraged to apply for the scholarships. Students can apply via the general scholarship application available on the web at http://www.cerrocoso.edu/studentservices/financial-aid/scholarship-opportunities. A recipient will be chosen in early May after a committee review process.

The CCCC Foundation's mission is to support access, success, and excellence for students, faculty, and staff at Cerro Coso Community College. More information on the CCCC Foundation can be found on the web at www.cerrocoso.edu/foundation.
