The Office of Community Education at Cerro Coso Community College is offering a Recreational Tennis class with instructor Kurt Menard. Tennis, the sport for a fit and healthy lifetime, will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays on the College Tennis Courts from 5:30 to 7 p.m., August 26 - September 25, 2013.

There aren't many sports activities that test every part of your body. Basketball and soccer are good for your legs and your aerobic health. Weightlifting makes you stronger. Tennis takes care of everything. It requires quickness, agility, core strength, stamina, and mental toughness—all that while having fun, working off stress and energizing your spirit.

Tennis can be just the fitness vehicle you've been looking for. This hands-on class will teach the basic fundamentals of tennis, groundstrokes, serve and return-of-serve. Learn how to volley, the rules of tennis, scoring, tennis terminology, and playing procedures.

More advanced players will learn to refine the basic skill set, paying special attention to lob, overhand, stroke, and skills in singles and doubles match play.

This class is open to both men and women 16 and older and does not award college credit. A Community Education fee of $50 will be charged.

Tennis keeps you healthy, fit and in shape, too, so it's also the sport for a longer lifetime. Grab a friend and your racquet and get to the courts.
