Cerro Coso introduces Angela Poole the new Athletic Trainer at the college.

The importance of sports in our society has grown exponentially over the years and with that comes enormous pressure to succeed. Ultimately it is the body that takes the toll of these pressures. Certified athletic trainers play a unique and important role in the lives of athletes. There is a lot more to it than taping ankles and applying ice, certified athletic trainers are also trained to save lives. They are experts in injury prevention and recovery and work closely with medical professionals when necessary. But, most importantly they help to educate to prevent and minimize injuries.

Originally from Tennessee, Poole is well prepared and experienced as a Certified Athletic Trainer. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Athletic Training specializing in Strength and Conditioning from Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee and a Master's Degree in Health Promotion and Human Performance from the University of North Alabama.

She played volleyball in college and served as an Associate Athletic Trainer at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee.

This Alabama football fan is looking forward to her new role at the college. Her advice to college athletes..."Find a way. Find what works for you. Don't make excuses. Taking action and setting goals is how you succeed in life. Whatever your goals, find a way to make them happen," encouraged Poole.

She has come a long way to serve as a Certified Athletic Trainer at Cerro Coso. Poole's goal is to provide more coverage to CC athletes and she hopes to see the sports programs grow and bring in new competitive athletic opportunities.

Poole is a welcomed addition to CC athletic staff. She is already getting to know the athletes and is stretching, taping, and preparing them for competition for the upcoming volleyball and soccer seasons. The college is currently recruiting additional players for all sports teams: volleyball, soccer, and baseball. Contact new Athletic Director John Mercer at 760-384-6353 for more information.
