Cerro Coso Community College is offering a general conditioning course in Mammoth Lakes this fall with instructor and local physical therapist Tim Tollefson.

New to the Mammoth community, Tollefson is excited about teaching the class and believes it is an opportunity for those who want to start developing a fitness routine, as well as for seasoned athletes to fine-tune and enhance their training programs in a safe and healthy way. Students will learn the principles of safe and appropriate training and fitness to enable them to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle. His goal is to assist students in developing lifelong enjoyment through fitness and health.

A professional athlete and full-time physical therapist at Mammoth Hospital's S.P.O.R.T. Center, Tollefson holds a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from California State University, Sacramento.

He visited Mammoth Lakes in the summer of 2011 while training and working an internship and quickly fell in love with the small, dedicated, goal oriented community and permanently moved in March of 2012 to work as a full-time physical therapist and to compete in cross country and track and field events. The area's endless trails and altitude provides a perfect training ground for endurance athletes.

Tollefson is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with experience working with USATF, NFL, and NHL athletes. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology with specialization in VO2max and performance testing.

He was a 2012 Olympic Trials Qualifier in the marathon with a personal best of 2:18:26. A five-time NCAA DII National Championships Qualifier in Track and Field, he is also a three-time CCAA Steeplechase Champion.

Fall 2013 classes begin August 24, 2013. Complete registration and course information is available on the web at www.cerrocoso.edu or contact the Ridgecrest campus at 760-384-6219. The Mammoth Lakes Campus will open on Thursday, August 1, 2013. Don't delay, register today!
