Dotsy Cronin knows firsthand that volunteering is a wonderful way to serve others in a meaningful manner. The Cerro Coso Community College Foundation recently welcomed Dotsy as the newest director to serve on the foundation board.

Originally from Fort Myers, Florida, Dotsy has lived the life of a quintessential military wife who is everything to everyone and manages chaos with a sense of humor. The military life is a series of reinventions—you move, you change and adapt, each time leaving parts of yourself behind. New friends are made and then you move away, routines are formed and then abandoned. The transient life of a military wife is poetic in theory, but can be wearying in reality.

Giving back has become second nature to Dotsy, who finds volunteer work to be extremely rewarding. Her community involvement has taught her family the value of caring for others and she is very proud of her daughter Montynne's volunteer work for a local tortoise rescue group.

Since moving to Ridgecrest in 2001, Dotsy has served as a director on the China Lake Museum Foundation board and is currently a director on the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce board. She also assisted with the Family Fun Festival for the Friends of the Fair this year.

It is no surprise that Dotsy finds little time for hobbies, but she does admit to being an extreme decorator when it comes to both the Halloween and Christmas holidays. It is said that her extreme decorating could make any Grinch's heart grow.

Dotsy and her husband, Bill, have been married for almost 34 years and raised three children: Bill Yates, Montynne Yates, and Andrew Cronin. Bill retired as the Commanding Officer for the Marine Aviation Detachment (MAD) in 2004 and the two are loving grandparents to three boys and one little girl.

Dotsy is an experienced volunteer whose talent and enthusiasm are welcomed additions to the CCCC Foundation Board.
