Forty eight students from Cerro Coso Community College were inducted into the Beta Kappa Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa during an evening ceremony on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in the Student Center at the Ridgecrest campus.
Phi Theta Kappa serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provides opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programs.
To be invited to join Phi Theta Kappa, students must have completed at least 12 hours of course work and have earned a GPA of at least 3.50.
Cerro Coso students inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Saturday include: Catalina Abrego, Nadeem Alim, Grant Argain, Joshu Baca, Zachary Bell, Shawn Benson, Taylor Boske, Jennifer Bui, Kirsten Carroll, Alex Carter, Hugh Chase, Charles Collom, Tonya Cox, Emma Crites, Zachary Curley, Rena Damalerio, Mason Denning, Ashley Giamona, Heather Giamona, Lynda Hartman, Christian Harwood, Christopher Heckerman, Margaret Holcomb, Kristopher Love, Kristin McAllister, Justin McBride, Runda Mohamed Osman, Nicholas Molina, Mark Moran, John Nydell, Carson Owens, Tammy Pereira, Amber Reed, Eric Richmann, Jesus Rivera, Jimmy Roberts, Chance Salmon, William Schultz, Alyssa Smith, Barbara Smith, Erica Smith, Sarah Smith, Michelle Snoderly, Susanna Sorenson, Amanda Uetz, Courtney Vargas, Martha Wachter, and Carla Weaver.
Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education, with more than 1.3 million members and 1,100 chapters located in 50 United States, U.S. Territories, Canada, Germany, and Japan.
