Learning a foreign language can increase global understanding; improve employment potential; increase native language ability; sharpen cognitive and life skills; build an appreciation for international literature, music, and film; and make travel more enjoyable. Cerro Coso Community College has openings in transfer level Spanish and Latin classes being offered at the Ridgecrest campus this spring.

LATN C102, C201, C202 - Elementary Latin and Intermediate Latin I & II will cover the basic structures and vocabulary for understanding, reading, writing, and speaking Latin. The classes will meet with instructor Charles Humphreys on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:45 to 8:50 p.m. in EW 208. The registration fee is $184 plus the cost of the book.

SPAN C101 - Elementary Spanish I will examine the basic grammar and vocabulary for speaking, reading, understanding, and writing at the beginning level as well as learn about the culture and civilization of the Spanish-speaking world. Lucila Gonzalez-Cirre will instruct a class on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:15 to 10:50 a.m. and Jon Heaton will instruct a class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Both classes will meet in EW 210. The registration fee for the class is $230 plus the cost of the book.

Learning a new language can but fun and fascinating. The material is intellectually exciting, and the course of study provides global information and thinking skills critical to succeeding in today's workplace.
