Margaret (Maggie) Marvin, a former Cerro Coso Community College student, who is now majoring in Chemistry at UC Irvine applied to a few NASA Academies and got an offer from the Lunar and Planetary Science Academy at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. She will work for 10 weeks on an individual project with her mentor Dr. Melissa Trainer. Maggie is assigned to a particular project studying aromatic compounds in the atmosphere of Saturn's moon Titan. Her project will involve spectrometry and spectroscopy in order to aid in modeling the kinetics within the reaction chamber to better understand the processes that are taking place and help guide the conditions for future experiments. She will also participate in a group project with the other interns, meet some notable NASA people, and will be going to Arizona for a week to do some field research.
