Cerro Coso Offering Small Business Classes Through Community Education

Ridgecrest, California – Two short classes to help improve workplace marketing are now being offered through Cerro Coso's Office of Community Education.

The first class, "Social Media for the Small Business Owner", will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cerro Coso Mammoth Lakes campus. Don't be overwhelmed by social media. This course will help small businesses to understand the role of social media in modern business marketing. Participants will create and maintain business accounts on Facebook and Twitter, understand and use an RSS reader, and learn how to write, monitor, and use a blog for business networking and marketing. The cost is $50 per person.

The second class, "Digital Imaging for the Small Business Owner", will be Saturday, May 19th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This class will teach business owners to apply basic principles and composition for business photography for use with social media. Participants will gain an understanding of image resolution, image sizing, and saving files for the web. Other topics covered will include use of open-source and free image editing software, developing basic digital imaging skills using a variety of software including enhancing, cropping, correcting, overlays, and text. Cost for this one day course is $50.

Open to the public, both classes will meet in room 208 of the Cerro Coso Mammoth Lakes Campus with instructor Vickie Taton.

These classes do not award college credit.
