November 22, 2011

The Cerro Coso Lady Coyotes got their first win of the season in a tight game against San Diego City College.

After suffering two disappointing losses to start the season the coyotes have bounced back. Taylor Boske, who has been the leading scorer in all of the Coyote games this season, was on fire, scoring a game high of 24 points.

LaChelle James added to the excitement scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Sierra Leveritt contributed to the win with 11 rebounds.

With only 3:29 remaining on the clock the Knights lead by one point. Cerro Coso's Taylor Boske, who scored a game-high 24 points on 10-for-37 shooting, caught fire at the right time. She scored seven straight points to give Cerro Coso (1-2) a 52-46 lead with two minutes left in the game.

It was intense, but the Lady Coyotes (1-2) pulled off the win 56-47, beating the Knights in their first home game of the season.

Coach Derrick Jackson: "We trailed 28-25 at halftime but in the second half we were better on the defensive side of the ball holding them to 19 points. They were 0-13 from the 3 point line for the entire game."

Other highlights this season include sophomore LaChelle James, who is averaging 10+ rebounds per game.

The Lady Coyote's next home game is Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 6 p.m. against Rio Hondo College.
