Cerro Coso Community College to Offer Classes on Smart Phones

Ridgecrest, California - Smart phones are getting smarter and Cerro Coso is offering basic and advanced non-credit classes to help you get the most from your smart phone. Cerro Coso Community College's Ridgecrest campus is now accepting registrations for its "Smart Phone" classes through the Office of Community Education. These classes are open to the public.

Whether you already have a smart phone, or you are currently shopping for a smart phone, these classes will help you sort out the many options available to you in the ever-changing smart phone market.

Smart Phones - Basic: Helping You Select the Right Phone for You will meet on December 8, 2011 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The class will describe the different smart phones currently on the market as well as phones planned for the future. Students will also learn the pros and cons for the various phone plans and operating systems used in smart phones. Overall, this class will help participants select a smart phone that is right them based on their own budget and future needs. Cost for the class is $15 per person.

Smart Phones - Advanced: Getting the Most Out of Your Phone - This $25 class will meet on January 10 & 12, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and will teach participants tips and tricks for getting the most out of their smart phones. Valuable training will include how to set up e-mail accounts; transfer multimedia information; back up their phone's data to a computer; download, use, and update free and paid applications; transfer phone books and contacts from phone to phone; and troubleshoot problems on a smart phone.

The minimum age for these classes is 10 and each class is limited to 30 students. Both classes will be held on the college's Ridgecrest campus in the Learning Resource Center - the "Basic" class will be in Room 722, the "Advanced" class will be in Room 631.
