College offers Computer Applications courses this Spring

Not sure how to use all those applications on your computer? Want to develop your computer skills to make yourself more marketable in the workforce? Cerro Coso Community College is offering a comprehensive program of Computer Applications courses this spring to help you improve your skills and master word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications used in most office settings. The Computer Science Program at Cerro Coso emphasizes proficiency in popular software and desktop applications such as Microsoft Office.

CSCI C121 will provide hands-on instruction and a basic understanding of word processing concepts using Microsoft Word. Students create, edit, and format documents including business letters, multiple page reports, newsletters, and cover letters. This course begins preparation for the core level Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam for Microsoft Word. Further intermediate and advanced studies will be covered in CSCI C151 and CSCI C161.

Learn the basics of spreadsheets in CSCI C123. Topics will include spreadsheet design, creation, revision, formatting, and printing. Students will create basic sales and expense reports, family budgets, and basic business related spreadsheet documents using Microsoft Excel features and functions. More intermediate and advanced spreadsheet instruction will be explored in CSCI C153 and CSCI C163.

Fundamental relational database design and management as well as building and editing basic tables, forms, queries, and reports are introduced in Beginning Access CSCI C125. This hands-on computer course will provide intermediate understanding of database programs. CSCI C155 and CSCI C165 will provide further advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Access features and functions.
