ASCCC Concert in the Garden to feature Steady Freddy the Man with the Horn

Saxophonist Fred Horn and his band are returning to Cerro Coso Community College to entertain the public with another enjoyable jazz "Concert in the Garden". This performance is the second in a series of concerts to be held at the college this fall.

Sponsored by the Associated Students of Cerro Coso the FREE concert will be held on Saturday, October 9th from 4 to 6 p.m. in the College Luis Miro Sculpture Garden. Bring a lawn chair or bring a blanket, but be sure to bring a friend and enjoy the great jazz music of Fready Horn.

Water, soft drinks, and treats will be available for purchase.

Fred Horn grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has been playing the sax since the age of nine. He was a member of his High School Jazz band that won 1st place in a Milwaukee Civic Music competition. Horn attended North Texas State University and played with the 1 O'clock Lab Band. Fred later performed at jazz gigs in Madison, WI and played in the UW Jazz Big Band that won the Notre Dame Jazz Festival. He later moved to the San Francisco Bay area to soak up jazz performances and got deeply involved with the funk bands influenced by Tower Of Power.

Fred has lead his own bands and played in many other groups in the Los Angeles area for over 15 years. He has worked with Les Claypool from Primus, jazz pianist Benny Green, blues guitarist Mike Bloomfield, guitarist Ray Obiedo, rock singer Eddie Money, and Chris Chaney- bassist for Alanis Morrisette. Horn has also worked with Jimmy Kimmel and Wayne Brady. Currently he leads his own band which performs throughout the Los Angeles area and plays regularly at Jax Restaurant in Glendale, CA.
