Cerro Coso Faculty Receives American Classical League Meritus Award

It is with distinct honor that Mr. Charles L. Humphreys, an Adjunct Faculty member for many years, with Cerro Coso Community College, has been selected to receive the American Classical League's (ACL) Meritus Award.

The awards presented annually to classicists in recognition of their sustained and distinguished services to ACL and the profession at large.

Humphreys has been teaching for a total of 53 years. He has taught Classical Languages at the University of Oregon, foreign language instructor at Shafter High School; teacher of Latin, Spanish and Russian at Burroughs High School; and Adjunct Instructor in Latin and Russian at Cerro Coso Community College from 1991 to the present.

The awards are presented each year by the ACL President during the annual Institute Banquet. The meeting this year is in Winston Salem at the invitation of Wake Forest University and the presentation will take place on Monday, June 28, 2010.

"We are very proud and happy for Charles Humphreys and his receiving this special honor and recognition from the American Classical League for his many years of service," stated Dr. Mary Retterer, President of Cerro Coso Community College.
