The Cerro Coso Community College, Eastern Sierra College Center, Bishop
Campus is offering "Natural History – Eastern Sierra" and "Natural History –
Spring Flowers" as Community Education classes, both instructed by Cindy
Duriscoe.
"Natural History – Eastern Sierra" – This two day field course will meet on
Saturday and Sunday, April 17 & 18, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m.
Students are to meet outside the Bishop Campus. This field course is an
overview of the geology, past and present climate, ecology, flora and fauna
of the Sierra Nevada Mountains specific to the "East side" and the impact of
humans on these ecosystems. There is a $50 Community Education fee for
this course and the minimum age for this class is 18 years.
"Natural History – Spring Flowers" – This one day field course will meet on
Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Students are to
meet outside the Bishop Campus. This field course includes the study of
climate, geology, ecology in relation to spring wild flower locations and
identification in Sierra foothills and/or mountain areas. Participants
will learn the basic identification techniques and wild flower families.
There is a $30 Community Education fee for this course. The
minimum age for this class is 16 years.
Students are to print and complete the "Student Registration Form" found on
the College website at
www.cerrocoso.edu/communityed under Bishop Campus. To register
mail or fax your completed form to the phone number and address listed at
the top of the form. You can also register in person at the Admissions
