College Offers Classes to Sharpen Your Academic Skills

Cerro Coso Community College is offering classes this Spring to help
sharpen your academic skills and make your college career run more smoothly.
Under Personal Development, the College is offering "Study Strategies" (PDEV
C025, CRN #30390) on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 a.m. until 9:05
a.m. This 2-unit course, instructed by Bonita Robison, is designed to
develop study skills and learning strategies for success in college classes.
Students will learn time management, memory tips, note taking skills, test
strategies and planning for a term project. Also being offered is
"Reading Skills (READ C005, CRN #30522) on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons
from 1:30 p.m. until 2:35 p.m. This 0-unit free course, instructed by
Bonita Robison, is designed to develop basic reading skills from the phonics
level through basic reading comprehension. This class is beneficial
for students who struggle with sounding out words or make frequent spelling
errors. It is also designed to benefit students learning the English
language by teaching them the skill of reading English.

schedule of classes. The Spring semester officially starts on Monday,
January 18 which is a Federal holiday; classes will convene on Tuesday,
January 19, 2010. Register early for best class selection.
The College will be closed for Winter Recess from Monday, December 21
through Friday, January 1, 2010. The College will reopen on Monday,
January 4, 2010. Most offices are open from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Monday through Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Fridays.
