Community Band and Choir Offered This Fall at IWV

Cerro Coso Community College is offering two music courses this fall. These are great courses for individuals interested in the arts and performing concerts for the community enjoyment. Students may register on campus or online at www.cerrocoso.edu.

Community Band (MUSC C141, CRN #70412, 2-Units) – This course is the preparation and performance of basic concert band and wind ensemble works. The Community Band class is in need of all brass, especially trombones. They are looking for woodwind, especially double reeds and all percussion, including keyboards. This class will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the College Lecture Center beginning August 27, 2009. Taught by Dan Peterson.

Community Choir (MUSC C151, CRN #70414, 2-Units) This course is the preparation and performance of basic choral works, including one masterwork yearly. The choir is recruiting all women sopranos, altos and contraltos. They are also looking for men who sing bass, baritone or tenor. This class will meet at the College on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Room 146 (first floor) beginning August 25, 2009. Taught by Amber Farris.
