Cerro Coso Community College's Call of Duty 4 Game Tournament coming
Saturday, August 15th to the Ridgecrest Indian Wells Valley Campus. Get a
team together (5 people per team), or if you're a solo sharpshooter, come
and join a team – all gamers are welcome and no one will be left out! The
Tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. with setup starting at 11:00 a.m. in the
IWV Learning Resource Center Computer Lab. The tournament will go until
approximately 6:00 p.m. and will end with the awarding of prizes for 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place, as well as a variety of round prizes and door prizes.
"Cerro Coso's Game Tournament is a great way for the community to come and
participate with their local community college. Not only is it a blast, but
it's also a way for our community to learn more about Cerro Coso, the
programs and services we offer, and check out our wonderful learning
facilities," says Cori Ratliff, Instructional Design Specialist and Digital
Media Arts adjunct faculty. "Cerro Coso not only focuses on offering
students a high-quality education, but the college is also interested in
forming community partnerships and promoting the college within our local
community."
For
this tournament Cerro Coso is teaming up with the local gaming group site X-Perience
Gaming League. Developed by Neil Barney and Matt Mckinley, the X-Perience
Gaming League site allows gamers to track their tournament stats, compete
online or onsite, build teams and just hang out with other gamers. The goal
of the site is to promote local gaming events and match up players based on
their
X-Perience points. Each win, whether team or individual builds points to
increase a gamers level or rank and can be used to determine seeding in
future tournaments. Visit
www.cerrocoso.edu/campusgaming/COD09 to learn more about the X-Perience
Gaming League and to register for the tournament.
GameCrazy, a local tournament sponsor, will also be joining with Cerro Coso
for this tournament and for our future Madden tournament coming in the Fall.
An X-Box based tournament, it will be sure to thrill gamers and football
fans alike.
So, select your team captain, choose a team name, and hop online to sign up!
All proceeds go to support the Associate Student Body of Cerro Coso
Community College. Gamer fees are $20 for pre-registration, $25 at the door
