Late Start Welding & Machine Tool Classes Added

If you missed out on the first section of Welding...a new section of WELD
C101, Oxyacetylene Welding, CRN is 73440. This class is slated to start on
Tuesday, September 9th. The classes are on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings
from 5:30 - 8:45 p.m. This 3 unit course is a credit towards the Welding
program and also the new Industrial Technology program. Instructor Jim
O'Conner will teach this fabrication class. This course will provide
practical experience in welding, brazing, soldering, and cutting of steel
using oxyacetylene. Topics include safety, metals and their physical
properties, setup and use of oxyacetylene equipment, and welding and cutting
techniques.
Added to the lineup of classes is a brand new course MCTL C107,
Basic Hand Tools, CRN 73439. This class will be offered for the first time
ever beginning September 23, 2008 . This 2 unit class will meet on
Tuesdays and Thursday afternoon from 1:30-4:45 p.m.. This course is also
part of the new Industrial Technology program being formed this Fall 08.
Instructor Jim O'Connor will teach this course which will help students to
identify and properly use a variety of hand tools in an industrial
environment. Emphasis will be placed on safety and the use of the
correct tool for a specific task. Students will be given hands-on experience
with many of the tools during the practical lab exercises and
demonstrations.
These classes are part of the Industrial Technology Certificate, 18 unit
