Cerro Coso ESCC to Offer Landscaping with Native Plants

August 18, 2008

Don't have a green thumb? Well you may not need one if you enroll in the upcoming Landscaping with Native Plants: Techniques and Ecology class being offered by Cerro Coso Community College this fall. Fall semester begins August 25. Register online at www.cerrocoso.edu or at the Mammoth or Bishop Center of Cerro Coso Community College.

This is the second (BIOL C099A, CRN #73235) in a two-part course. During the past spring semester students grew several hundred native plants from seed. During the upcoming eight-week fall class students will design a garden and plant these native plants on the Bishop campus. Students will also install a simple drip irrigation system and write information sheets on the ecology of the native plants and their native communities.

Everyone is invited to take this course! Having participated in the spring course is NOT a prerequisite for taking this course.

The class is being taught by Elizabeth Wenk, local plant biologist with many years experience working in the Sierra. Class will meet on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 7:00pm, from August 27th through October 15th. Cost for this course is $20. For further information, please contact the Bishop campus at 760-872-1565 or stop by the Bishop campus. You can also register for this class on the web at www.cerrocoso.edu.

Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy the planting experience and learn a new skill.
