Cerro Coso to Offer Introductory Research Course
March 5, 2008
Cerro Coso librarian Julie Cornett will be teaching a 1-unit Introduction
to Research class on three Saturdays this spring (April 5th, 19th, and May
3rd) from 9:00 - 4:00pm at the Bishop Campus of the Eastern Sierra College
Center. Students will work in an "open lab" classroom environment conducting
research on topics of their choosing while getting individualized assistance
on the research process. Topics will include: Internet Searching, Evaluating
Information, and Using the Library Catalog and Online Databases.
Additionally, students will receive instruction on how to set up an email
account and send attachments if needed.
Students and community members of all skill levels and ages are encouraged
to take advantage of this opportunity to become better navigators of the
overwhelming web of information in our world. These skills are increasingly
important in the contemporary environment of rapid technological change and
proliferating information sources.
Those interested in this course need only register in LIT C075: Introduction
to Library Research (CRN 30286).
