Painting Classes Offered at Cerro Coso Community College - Mammoth

January 17, 2008

The Cerro Coso Community College Eastern Sierra College Center in Mammoth is offering Painting I, Painting II, and Special Topics in Painting for the Spring 2008 semester. These classes start on Wednesday, January 23, 2008. All three classes are 3-units each and meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:50 to 5:00 p.m. There is a special materials fee of $6.00 per class. Painting I is a beginning level studio course (C131, CRN: 30029); Painting II provides students opportunities for advanced projects in painting (ART C231, CRN: 30044); and Special Topics in Painting is a studio visual art course and students will develop skills and techniques in selected media (ART C065D, CRN: 32586). These classes provide a great way to express you talent!

The instructor, Elizabeth Kenneday-Corathers, stated "The class provides fun for people of all levels of experience - and absolutely no experience is necessary." This course lets students choose which medium (oils, acrylics, watercolor) they prefer to explore. There are also some field trips planned for plein air painting (outdoors in the field), and to the Reno Art Museum.

Kenneday-Corathers holds a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Painting and Photography from the Claremont Graduate University. She has exhibited internationally and received numerous awards for her mixed-media works. She is currently living in June Lake, creating portfolios of Sierra Nevada and Mono Basin Landscapes. She has stated that she would be happy to speak to individuals or groups wanting more information: call (760) 648-7288 or e-mail her at kenneday@csulb.edu.
