Database Classes Offered

March 6, 2007

Do you have a FileMaker Pro database you need to convert to MS Access? Sign up for the College's 1-unit combo workshop and online class for Database Design and Migration from FileMaker Pro to Access. The 36-hour online class CSCI C086 (CRN 33414) starts on April 10th to May 18th just in time for you to be ready for a 9-hour hands on workshop CSCI C079 (CRN 33401) being held at the Indian Wells Valley Campus in Ridgecrest on April 13th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on April 14th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Learning Resource Center, Room 710. You'll find out what you need to know to get started with migration and how to begin to design your new database at the same time. Create tables, queries, and reports, and establish your relationships. Forty-five hours can't polish your product to a state of completion, but it can certainly get you going in the right direction. Sharron Swan is the instructor for both classes. Swan, though new to Cero Coso Community College, has been teaching in the classroom and online for many years and has an extensive background in the Computer Technology field.

Need to learn MS Access while you're at it? The College is offering three late start online Access classes also being instructed by Sharron Swan (1-Unit each): CSCI C125 - Beginning Access, CSCI C155 - Intermediate Access, and CSCI C165 - Advanced Access.

All levels of MS Access are now offered every semester online and onsite for the Fall and Spring semesters.

Swan will also be piloting new courses for Cerro Coso Community College in a MAC Mini Series beginning this summer online including MAC OS System, iLife Suite and iWork Suite.
