Bishop Campus
Excel Course Offered for Spring
January 22, 2007
Cerro Coso Community College's Bishop campus is offering both Beginning and
Intermediate Microsoft Excel electronic spreadsheet courses for the spring
2007 semester. Spring classes will convene on January 22. Based on
experience level students can choose the appropriate section. The courses
meet on Thursdays at the Bishop campus from 11:30-1:30 beginning January 25
and ending May 17 and are taught by Matt Hightower, Professor of Business
and Information Technology. The classes are offered in lecture/lab format in
a hands-on computer lab environment. Students will have the opportunity to
learn new material and work on lab assignments during the class period.
The beginning Excel course covers:
Spreadsheet design, creation, revision, formatting and printing. The student
will create basic sales or expense reports, family budgets and basic
business related spreadsheet documents using Microsoft Excel features and
functions including formulas, charting, built-in functions, etc.
The intermediate Excel course covers:
How to analyze data through list management, using autofilter, sorting and
pivot table features. Students will learn how to work with multiple
worksheets and workbooks, and create a shared workbook, resolve conflicts,
and track changes. Students will also plan and prepare an application using
Excel's data validation feature and button creation using macros.

Spring classes convene January 22. Late Registration will be conducted
January 22-26. Students may register on a first-come, first served basis, no
appointment is necessary. Just stop by the Bishop Campus or the Mammoth
Lakes Campus to register.
