LEGO ROBOTICS –FUN, CHALLENGING, AND EDUCATIONAL

Do you like to discover new thinks? Enjoy challenges? Have fun with puzzles? Are you constantly learning? Easily adaptable? Ready to be on the cutting edge of technology? Then come and join the Cerro Coso Community College Robotics class!

Though the term "Lego Robotics" may conjure up visions of a 10-year-old boy's hobby, Computer Science Instructor Debby Kilburn is using it as a vehicle to teach her students cutting-edge technology in a hands-on fashion. "You don't just learn by someone lecturing you, you learn by putting your hands on something, wrapping your brain around it and figuring out solutions for yourself," said Kilburn.

The newly added course at Cerro Coso College offers a broad spectrum of lessons, from basic and complex scientific principles to teamwork, creative thinking, problemsolving and trouble shooting.

The new Computer Science class CO81-Robotics is a 1 unit class that will be offered January 4-6, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kern River Valley Campus.

Students may view the class schedule and register for the Spring 2007 semester on line at www.cerrocoso.edu or by stopping by the Kern River Valley Campus, located at 5520 Lake Isabella Blvd. in Lake Isabella. No appointment for registration is necessary.

Spring classes begin January 20, 2007. For additional information on registration, financial aid, placement exams and academic advising call the College at 379-5501.
