Child Development Center to Host Open-House
November 1, 2006
The Cerro Coso Community College Child Development Center will host an open
house for the community on November 14, 2006.
Refreshments will be provided and guided tours conducted throughout the day.
From 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM classroom teachers will be available to answer
specific questions and talk more about the day-to-day routines.
The Center serves over 100 children a day, including infants, toddlers and
preschool children.
In addition, the Center also has a State Preschool Program with morning and
afternoon schedules. The Cerro Coso program offers high quality early
childhood learning experiences and child care with Child Development
Professionals.. The Center's Older Toddler and Preschool curriculum and
developmental learning center is designed to meet the "Pre-kindergarten
Learning and Development Guidelines" required by the California Department
of Education. .
The main purpose of the program when it opened in 1975 was to serve the
children of students attending Cerro Coso Community College; students
continue to have priority for enrollment to this day. However, the program
is open to anyone in the immediate and surrounding communities. A rate
schedule is available upon request. If the family income falls below the
state median level, the childcare fee is on a sliding scale according to
family size and gross monthly income.
The Center is resolutely committed to fully celebrating diversity through
acceptance, respect and strong relationships between families, children,
caregivers and community. We embrace the concept that every child is a
unique individual, full of discovery and knowledge, to be celebrated,
encouraged and most importantly, afforded respect and dignity.
In addition, the Center participates in the Federal Food Program for Child
Care Centers and provide breakfast, lunch and snack to every child present
during that meal. This is offered as part of the program with no extra cost
for families.
