New Online Health Career Classes Offered for Fall 2006

Are you interested in Health Careers? Here are several new classes being offered online for the fall semester through Cerro Coso Community College. Online classes begin Saturday, August 26. Late Registration continues through Sept. 1, 2006.

C160 Rehabilitative Career Choices CRN#72947
This course is designed for individuals interested in various health occupations in the field of rehabilitative careers. The student will explore basic principles and medical terminology, systems of health and healing, chiropractic assisting, massage therapy, physical therapy, sports medicine assisting, personal fitness training and administrative and job seeking skills for the physical medicine worker.

C240 Nutrition and Diet Therapy CRN#72944
This course id designed to provide the student with an understanding of the fundamentals of nutrition related to the promotion and maintenance of optimal health. Practical applications and treatment of nutrition related to pathologies are emphasized. Students will be introduced to basic scientific knowledge to enable them to evaluate nutritional issues discussed in the mass media. This course presents case studies with care plans and clinical analysis questions for the health care provider.

C245 Complementary and Alternative Therapies CRN#72945
This course is designed to provide students with an overview of the major alternative health and complementary medicine modalities prominent in the U.S. These therapies will include acupuncture, traditional Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic Medicine, Herbal Practice, Reflexology and others.

C250 Cultural Diversity and Health Care CRN #72948
This course is designed to familiarize the students with the fundamentals of cultural diversity. Cultural diversity is an integral part of every aspect of health careers. This course is encouraged for any individual with a health career objective. The student will explore cross cultural and family theory to analyze forms of cultural diversity including gender, age, and family form.

C260 Ethics and the Health Care Provider CRN #72946
This course is designed to explore theories, models and principles that serve as guides for ethical behavior within the healthcare context. Ethics is an integral part of every aspect of health careers and this course is encourages for any individual with a health career objective. The student will explore the complexities created by science and technological advances, the variety of health care settings, and the diversity of patients in their care, all while emphasizing the importance of behavior in personal and professional situations.
