Cerro Coso Community College Seeking Submissions For The 2006 Literary and Art Journal, Metamorphoses

Ridgecrest, CA – February 7, 2006

Cerro Coso Community College is seeking submissions from students and community members for the 2006 Metamorphoses (Met). The submission deadline is March 1, 2006. The Met is a literary and art journal with a long publication history reaching back to 1989. The Met is published annually by Cerro Coso Community College and features both established and emerging twenty-first century voices and visions from a variety of perspectives. The Met publishes poetry, short stories, creative non-fiction, reviews, and literary scholarship and reproduces art in all mediums. Special consideration will be given to pieces which highlight in some way the geographic service areas of the college (Eastern Sierra, Indian Wells Valley, Mojave, and Kern Valley Regions of California). Special consideration is also given to local authors/artists and to Cerro Coso alumni and students, including distance learners. The editorial board of the journal consists of Cerro Coso students and faculty members.

The submission of all art and literature for the 2006 metamorphoses is done online. Visit metamorphoses at www.cerrocoso.edu/metamorphoses and fill out the submission form.

For literature, poets can submit up to eight poems. Fiction writers and essayists can submit up to 8000 words. Submissions must be previously unpublished. Save your document in Microsoft word or rtf format. Your name and contact information should appear in the upper left corner of the first page, and your last name should appear somewhere on each subsequent page.

For art, the met considers all mediums, including but not limited to photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed mediums. Submit a strong, print-quality photograph of the piece. Save the photo as a high resolution jpeg or tiff file and submit online. See the website for more specifics.

The submission deadline is March 1, 2006. Notifications will be in early April and the publication of the 2006 Metamorphoses will be mid April 2006.
