Cerro Coso to Offer Many Drama Choices -
Auditions Scheduled for Spring Production
Ridgecrest, CA – January 10, 2006
Auditions are coming up for the Cerro Coso Community College Theatre
Department's production of Carlo Gozzi's fairytale The King Stag. The
play takes place in the magical kingdom of Seredip where the lonely King
Deramo searches for a bride. No experience is necessary and many parts are
available. The Spring Semester begins January 17, 2006 and auditions will
take place the second week of class. Those interested in auditioning for the
play should sign up for Theatre Production (Theatre 121, 2 units, CRN#30600)
which meets Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:40 p.m. in the
Lecture Center and those interested in working behind the scenes should sign
up for Technical Theatre (Theatre 131, 2 units, CRN#30601) which meets in
the Lecture Center on Monday and Wednesday evenings from
6:15 to 9:11 p.m.
Performance opportunities are also available with the College's "Who Said What Now?" Improv Troupe. Students who sign up for Improvisation (Theatre 118, 2 units, CRN#30599) which meets Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. will develop improv skills in class and will perform in Improv Shows with the troupe.
The College is also offering four levels of Acting including: Fundamentals of Acting (Theatre 111, 2 units, CRN#30597), Beginning Acting (Theatre 112, 2 units, CRN#30598), Intermediate Acting (Theatre 211, 2 units, CRN#30602), and Advanced Acting (Theatre 212, 2 units, CRN#30603). The acting students will develop monologues and scenes to be performed in a final public showcase. These four classes meet on Monday and Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:03 p.m. in the College Lecture Center.
New to the Drama Department this semester is a course in Directing
(Theatre 230, 2 units, CRN#30604). This class meets on Tuesday and Thursday
evenings from 6:00 to 7:25 p.m. The Tuesday class meets in the Lecture
Center and the Thursday class will be held in Room 146. Directing students
will develop directing techniques and skills by directing short dramatic
works.

Tuesday, January 17, 2006. Late registration will be held January 17 through
the 27th, but keep in mind that the auditions for the spring production will
be held the second week of class.
