James Monroe Middle School Students Visit Cerro Coso

Ridgecrest, CA – November 1, 2005

James Monroe students pictured with Heather Ostash (lower right)Heather Ostash, Cerro Coso Counselor is pictured with the forty 7th and 8th students from Monroe Middle School who visited the Cerro Coso College campus last week. The field trip was part of the Workability Grant program at Monroe. Students listened to a brief presentations about the opportunities at Cerro Coso Community College, including the Financial Aid and Special Services Programs. The Monroe students were then lead on an escorted tour of the campus, which culminated with a demonstration in the ceramics lab. Students were each given a piece of clay to mold and shape, while Paul Meyers provided a ceramics demonstration on the potter's wheel. Students then had an opportunity to sign their names to the pot that was created. The pots will be glazed and fired, then delivered to the group at Monroe.
