Cerro Coso to hold 31st commencement ceremony

More than 300 Cerro Coso Community College graduating students will be
honored Friday evening at the Raymond A. McCue Athletic Complex, as special
guests and administrators are expected to participate in the college's 31st
commencement ceremony.
Graduates from Cerro Coso's five facilities including Southeast Kern Center
at Edwards Air Force Base, Eastern Sierra College Center in Bishop and
Mammoth Lakes, Kern River Valley Center in Lake Isabella, and its local
Indian Wells Valley Campus, will receive a variety of Associate Degrees.
Members of Cerro Coso's Academic Senate are scheduled to address the
college's 2004 graduates including Rachelle Lewis, Chris Weber and Cerro
Coso's Student of 2003 Valerie Vosburg.
Cerro Coso Alumnus Jeff Darnell has been selected as this year's
Distinguished Alumni Guest Speaker.
Darnell graduated from the local college in 1992, and went on to receive a
Bachelor's Degree in History from the University of California, Berkeley, a
Master's Degree in History from the American University of Washington, D.C.
and a subsequent law degree from the University of California, Davis.
Darnell is currently employed as a partner with the nationally recognized
law firm of Arnold and Porter.
"Cerro Coso is very proud of its graduates, and we invite the public to join
us in honoring their outstanding accomplishments," said Dr. Sharon K. Dyer,
president of Cerro Coso.
