New Courses Being Offered this Spring at Cerro Coso

Edwards AFB, CA – January 12, 2004

Cerro Coso Community College has added several new courses to the spring schedule line up of classes.

ECON C101-Introduction to Economics
This 3.00 unit class discusses macro and micro concepts as they apply to current economic problems. For the non-economics and non-business majors. Instructor Jerry Witte will hold class from 5:30pm to 8:40 pm on Thursdays.

ENGL C102-Critical Thinking Through Literature
Instructor Janis Fisher will teach this 3.00 unit course which is designed to help students continue development of critical thinking and reasoning skills begun in ENGL C101 through advanced study of imaginative literature (novels, poetry, and drama). Class is held on Wednesdays from 5:30pm until 8:40 pm.

MUSC C101-Music Appreciation
Music 101 is a music survey course emphasizing the development of the listener's perception to the basic elements of music. The semester will be devoted to the study of the development of Western music from approximately 450 AD to the present. Musical examples used in class will be drawn from a variety of musical styles. Concert attendance is required. This 3.00 unit course taught by, Lynn Ennis will meet on Mondays from 5:30 to 8:25 pm.

ANTH C121-Anthropology
This 3.00 unit accelerated class begins on March 16 and will end on May 13, 2004 is taught by Mark Campbell and will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-8:42 pm. Introduction to human variation, past and present, as a part of physical and cultural evolution, including non-human primates, hominid fossils, population genetics and human cultural history.

SPCH C101-Elements of Speech
Fundamentals of speech composition, gathering and using material, audience analysis and practical speaking experience will be covered in this 3.00 unit class. Instructor Veronica DeLos Santos will hold class on Friday evenings from 5:00-8:03 pm.

Classes begin on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 with a cost of $18.00 per unit. Register early for best class selection. Class size is limited. For more information contact the College at (661) 258-8644.
