Fire Mountain Foundation Presents: The Felici Piano Trio With Guest Artists Ron Selka

Ridgecrest, CA – Jan 13, 2003

The Fire Mountain Foundation presents The Felici Piano Trio and guest artist Ron Selka, on clarinet, Monday, January 27, 2003 at 7:30 PM in the Cerro Coso Community College Lecture Center.

Felici Piano GroupThe Felici Piano Trio was founded in 1994 at Indiana University's renowned school of music in Bloomington. Acclaimed as "A True Trio Con Brio", the critics praise Felici's "...first class chamber music making", and "...tremendous joy in music". The ensemble came to Mammoth Lakes through a Rural Residency grant from Chamber Music America, awarded to the Mono County Arts Council. In 1999, Felici and the MCAC received a three-year Artist-in-Residence grant from the California Arts Council (CAC) for educational outreach programs for children, as well as a 2001 Exemplary grant. For eight consecutive summers, the ensemble concertized in Germany under the auspices of Rhineland-Palatinate's Kultursommer, and appeared on 3SAT and ZDF Television as well as recorded for German Southwest Radio (SWF). In November 2002, the Felici Trio embarked on its first tour to Chile. Felici's most recent CD of Tchaikovsky's Trio in A Minor is currently available.

Ron Selka is the Principal Clarinetist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Before joining the I.P.O he was the Assistant Principal/Eb clarinetist of the orchestra of the New Israel Opera. He has performed in recitals and chamber music in Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, USA and Israel.

As a soloist Mr. Selka has appeared with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Symphony Orchestra, Rishon Lesion and the IDF Chamber Orchestra. This coming December he will perform as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Maestro Mehta. Selka is a prizewinner in both Coleman and Fischoff chamber music competitions (USA, 1994) and was a semi-finalist in the CIEM International Clarinet Competition in Geneva (1997). He participate in "Music by the Red Sea" festival, the Israel Festival, Pro Festival (Germany), and the Kol Israel chamber music days. Selka has made numerous recording for the Israel Broadcasting Authorities.
