CCCC Announces Theatre Production Course for Androcles and the Lion

Ridgecrest, California – September 3, 2002

Cerro Coso Community College and new Drama instructor Melinda Fogle are pleased to announce Cerro Coso's Fall Theatre Production course. The course is open to beginning as well as advanced students of theater, and will involve the rehearsal process and main stage production of the play, Androcles and the Lion. Students will have the opportunity to explore various areas of theatrical production, including acting, set construction, costuming, make-up, publicity, and theatre management.

The play Androcles and the Lion is based on the Italian tale of "Androcles and the Lion," and written in the style of Italian Commedia dell 'arte. Cast members will bring to life a colorful troupe of 16th century strolling players to tell the comedic tale of Androcles and the Lion. Melinda Fogle will be directing the production.

A new faculty member at Cerro Coso this fall, Fogle comes to Ridgecrest from Bowling Green, Ohio. Fogle taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate level theatre courses at Bowling Green State University while completing her Doctorate in Theatre Studies.

There is no prerequisite for the production course; all interested are encouraged to enroll. Students can enroll for DRMA C121 using the Course Reference number 73888. The three-unit course will meet Monday through Thursday from 7:15 – 10:05 p.m. beginning September 9th. For further information, please contact Melinda Fogle at 384-6114.
