April is National Poetry Month, a month-long celebration of poetry established by the Academy of American Poets in 1996. To highlight the extraordinary legacy and ongoing achievements of American poets, Cerro Coso Community College is featuring a poem a day on the college's online journal of literature at metamorphosesonline.blogspot.com, complimented by an exhibit in the Library on the Ridgecrest campus.

The goal of National Poetry Month is to widen the attention to the art of poetry, to living poets, to a complex poetic heritage, and to poetry books and journals of wide aesthetic range and concern. Cerro Coso hopes to increase the visibility and availability of poetry at the college while acknowledging and celebrating poetry's ability to sustain itself in the many places where it is practiced and appreciated.

Please bookmark the page metamorphosesonline.blogspot.com and visit it every day throughout the month for new poems and visit the many poetry journals and books on display in the College Library.

Give poetry a chance...celebrate National Poetry Month with Cerro Coso Community College.
