Cerro Coso Offers Classes to Fill Employer Needs

Have you considered a career in the field of Information Technology (IT)?
Due to high demand by employers for technicians, Cerro Coso Community
College has expanded its offerings in relevant, door opening new courses in
the field of IT. Fall classes start next week, August 25.
The faculty team teaching these classes are all experts in the field in key
IT roles in Ridgecrest. Meet instructors Chris Harper, Jonathan Bushnell,
and Dan Johnson and learn from those who are leaders in the field.
Employers locally and around the state are pressing Cerro Coso Community
College for individuals with expertise in the following areas.
CSCI C141 A+ Standard Skills for IT Technicians is a 2 unit
class. The class CRN 70143 is a 16 week course that runs from August 25 -
Dec 12th online.
This course builds upon the technical understanding of professional computer
support and develops competency for troubleshooting in a corporate network
environment. This course prepares a student for the CompTIA A+ 220-602 exam
for IT Technicians.
CSCI C143 Network + Fundamentals of Network Technologies
CRN 73238 is a brand new course for Cerro Coso this fall.
This course emphasizes the fundamental technical understanding of computer
networks. Network+ is a globally recognized certificate to validate a
student's proficiency installing, configuring and troubleshooting basic
network hardware, protocols and services. A successful candidate is
prepared to take the Network+ certification exam. This course is ideal
for prospective candidates in network administration and/or further training
in Microsoft, Linux, and/or network routing and switching.
Advisory: CSCI C141 or 1 year equivalent networking experience.
CSCI C146 Security + Fundamentals of Network Security
CRN 73239 has been recently added to the line-up of Fall Computer Science
classes.
This course emphasizes the fundamental technical understanding of computer
and network security principals. Security + is a globally recognized
certificate that validates a student's knowledge in the implementation of
practical hardware, software, network and Internet security. A successful
candidate is prepared to take the Security+ certification exam. This course
is ideal for prospective candidates who want to master practical network and
computer security. Advisory: CSCI C143 or 2 years equivalent
experience in the Information Technology field
